I sort of like the Forester 2.5 XT - same motor, but a more practical vehicle at a weight penalty. The pricing is nice, too.

jaypride, the engine is basically the same, minus the turbo, intercooler, intake manifold (not powdercoated red), and probably ECU programing. If you dont believe us, read closer: http://www.thecarconnection.com/inde...&sid=176&n=156
"To make those numbers, the Turbo incorporates such STi innovations as lightweight, sodium-filled exhaust valves and a semi-closed deck cylinder head." Not to mention the DOHC AVCS design with drive by wire throttle, same as the STI.

For those who haven't seen this, here's a link to an article on the turbo baja debut at the NY autoshow

Baja motor has the Semi-Closed deck, variable valve timing and the sodium filled valves. Other than that it's anybody's guess until we see it. Since the Baja and Forester are tuned for low end torque it may very well have different intake and exhaust, not to mention different cams.

I really like the XT, and, as you said, it's priced nicely. I can't wait for them to get here.

The 03+ foresters were actually redesigned with a little more aerodynamics in mind, same as the 04+ Imprezas, so thats good for both models. And yes, the forester turbo weighs almost identicle to how much a wrx wagon weighs

Even if I never purchase a Forester, SOA wouldn't allow both the Baja and the Forester to possibly outaccelerate the standard WRX - the WRX is the performance standard for all of Subaru, with the STi being a premium version of the car. My instincts tell me that the WRX might have a turbo EJ25 in its future.
