Trading my C5 for a Rex
...I think. My 1998 Vette Convertible is gorgeous and fun but just not real world enough. Can't leave it out in the rain, can't leave the highway. My wife's 99 Legacy Outback Wagon is great and has sold me on Subies, but of course, I want a rig where something happens when I push on the pedal.
So WRX drivers, please answer these questions for me:
1. While I do want a car that can leave the highway, I also drive about 350 miles a week on the highway at highway speeds. Is the WRX comfortable at 3 to 3.5 hours at a stretch? Is the WRX a good cruiser at 65-80 mph?
2. This doesn't apply to the WRX in particular, but I wonder about damage done during test drives. The WRX manual says not above what? 3-4k rpm the first 1000 miles, but all the WRX's at my local dealer have 60-80 miles on them, and I know each 6-8 miles represents a test drive where someone probably ran it up to 5-6k (or more). So are these cars compromised even as you drive a new one off the lot?
Thanks.

1. For me driving on the highway is a breeze.. but of course I love everything about my rex so I can't vouch for others. But I know that it is definitely more comfortable than my other car (RSX) even though they both have bucket seats. The WRX just feels more comfortable.
2. I faced the same problem when I was buying my WRX. I ended up buying one of the ones that hadn't been test driven yet.. the ones with the plastic thingys still on em? If that isn't a choice I suppose you could still take the ones that have been test driven a bit. Other than that I don't know what to tell ya.
