Trust me there is plenty of brightsides ... I mean it is nice that they actually decided to pay out on the claim ... that is one bright side ... yeah, and if you think a factory head unit is going back in you are more crazy than me

I got a similar story:
So me and a buddy are in LA just hanging out at the mall because we are supposed to meet up with these chicks. So I bring my 1969 Camaro, otherwise known as Baby. Anyways I never invested in an alarm, rather I put a hidden kill switch on it. So my car is parked in a garage at the mall. Safe right? Nope. So we get out of a movie around 11:45pm and head to my car to go to a party with these chicks. As we roll up to my car some a$$hole is under the hood trying to start it. So I politelt go up and ask him what he is doing with out even flinching he says, "Oh this damn Ford wont start" Keep in mind that its a Chevy, this makes me even madder. So I whip out my keys and say well hears your problem, no keys. Which is about the time he figures it time to run. Run my A$$. Me and my buddy beat him around a little and decide that he needs a permanent reminder that crime doesn't pay. So I start it up, let the engine get hot, and brand a nice big bowtie on his palm.
Morale of the story: even a $20.00 kill switch can prevent the dumbest of criminals.
He tried to report me to the cops when they came to haul him in. I told them that he slipped.

Rocksalt and bowties!
These are the best stories I have heard in a while. Getting stuff stolen is the worst, but at least fro all the bad stories you two have a somewhat good ending...
The bowtie to go with an arrest... that really sucks for him, and at least nothing happened to your ride.

I caught some little jerkoff in my car about a year ago.
I had just gotten off the phone it was like 3am and I hear some weird noises in my driveway. I lived out in the woods so anything other than crickets or owls is an odd noise at 3am. so i look out the window and my dome light is on, I just thought I left a door open until i see a hand reach up and turn the light off. I was like "son of b****" I grabbed the aluminum bat i keep by my bed and ran outside. He saw me coming weilding a bat braveheart style ready to take his head off. He ran but I caught up and swung the bat and missed his head by about an 1". well he got lucky and got away, I ran into a branch in the woods that stuck into my knee and I couldn't keep after him. Well I knew who he was and called the cops. When they arrested him he was on probation and had a bag of weed in his pocket. I went to court and testified against him and he went to jail for 8 months. He started crying about how he'll never be able to get a good job if this is on his record. I just sat their and smiled as the judge gave him his sentence.

I got nailed with rocksalt once, I will never never NEVER go near that slate dump again. It was so painful I almost couldn't walk (after I ran well the heck out of his range). It didnt bleed bad, I guess cause of the salt itself, but man o' man... it burns like someone dipping you in lava. I don't really spose you could bleed to death from it, as it was no worse that some severe road burn, in terms on blood loss. But with all those little entry wounds, your open to SERIOUS infection. Getting the salt scrubbed out at the hospital was not fun either.
Personally I would use buckshot... it's much more humane, and probably alot less painful

My Dad caught a roober in our house whne I was very small and beat the $hit out of him litterally. He hit him so hard the guy crapped his pants. Then my dad grabbed him from behind as the guy went out of the front door. The guy was pulling real hard to get out and as they got to the top of the cement steps my Dad just leaned forward and rode him like a sleigh until his face hit the cement first with my Dad on top!!! My Dad's a big guy (5"10" 225 all muscle at the time) and he would have ripped him up but there was another guy in the house so my Dad went back in and up stairs and the guy jumped out of a second story window. They got away, but the cops got them and they were easy to identify with the one guy all bloodied up. The cops said if my dad had shot them in his house it would have been %100 legal even if they were killed! This was back in the late 70s but I think that is still true if they are on your property! Just a thought.

Yeah thieves do suck . . .
About a week ago, somebody popped the rear window of my 87 bimmer (second car) and stole the stereo and rear speakers. They left my CDs behind though, I dont know if I should be insulted because they didnt like my music. The other wierd thing is they didnt touch my subie or my g/f's car, which both are far nicer.
I dont carry comprehensive on that car so its a total loss . . .

I havn't been on this forum for a while. But i got about the same story.
This happened couple of months ago when I was at my old house. It was around 1AM and I was about to go to bed. But before I went to bed I checked on my Wrx just wanted to make sure no one was out there. I then saw a guy walking down the street with something in his hand. I couldnt tell what it was. He walked up to my car and circled it 2 - 3 times checkin it out. I closed my blinds and went to the room across from mine which then I opened a lil bit with the light closed. I saw from a angle what he was doing. He was trying to break my window. I was like Oh Hell Naw. I grabbed my Steal Bat which was in my closet and ran downstairs. I went from the back to give him a suprise attack. I walked slowly and quietly untill I was 1 feet away from him. I tapped his shoulder and he saw me. He tought first of all that I was going to join him to break the car but I told him. " Yo thats my car" He freaked out and was about to run. I tripped him and he fell on the floor. I hit him with my bat on his left arm and he started to yell at me. I said STFU and put my foot on his stomach so he couldnt move. I called the cops and they came within 5 - 10 mins and took him away. I told the cops whatever happened. He went to jail eventually for a while I think. But he never showed up on that street again.
Well thats what happened but it was funny tho. All i gotta say is before you go to bed check on your car from a window.

My Integra driving nieghbor has a siren under his hood, a siren mounted behind his bumper and one inside the cabin of his car just in case they pop the hood to cut the siren power wire. To top it off theres a strobe light mounted inside his gauge cluster so not only are your ears going to be ringing but with the strobe light going off in your face your not likely to go unnoticed or see very good immediately afterwards.
I'll just buy a set of locking hood pins from Japan. That way they can't just pop the hood to get to the horn.

wow...
interesting stories. I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago, before the WRX. I was doing a cousin of mine a favor, by taking her to the airport (JFK) and happened to take her suitcase out of the trunk...where some thief must have seen the two subs in the trunk. I parked the car, for maybe 20 minutes (in Queens before getting to the airport) and notice that the glove compartment is open. Then, I notice that my radar detector is missing, and so is everything else. I check the trunk, and no subs, no amp, nothing.
Only thing that they broke though, was the "key hole" on the passenger door. Managed to get in and take everything. I talked to my insurance co. who wanted receipts for everything. I provided them, and they still gave me nothing.
Then, I looked into taxes, and noticed that an individual who has had a loss, and has filed an insurance claim, but did not receive ANY money for the loss, MAY deduct the loss, PROVIDING that he/she has all the receipts for the losses.
So, I deducted the loss on my tax refund, and got a pretty nice check in the mail...and the insurance company never paid me back. Thank goodness for tax laws.
Later, and good luck with the replacements.

Locking hood pins are a good start but a criminal that knows what he is doing can get around those very quickly. And if he is trying to boost the car he doesn't even need to open the hood, if he is good. Trust me if they want it bad enough they will take it. I would also invest in a kill switch or alarm of some sort. I also saw something cool on TV. It is made in Germany I think. It is flame throwers for your car. Like for when someone comes and tries to jack you out of your car.

damn. that suks magis. so they just stoll teh stuff in ur car.. good thing it wasnt teh whole car.. wen i get my wrx sti ima get the auto lock and an alarm system =), i dont believe in shooting people but i do believe in beating the daylights out of them with my bare fists. magis, did u have an alarm?
