are there any teenage owners of the sti?
I was just wondering about how young the sti owners get. I am 19 and am looking to upgrade early next year to an sti from my 02 wrx. If there is anybody in the range of 19 or 20 how much are you paying for insurance on the sti? I am working and saving up to pay for this myself and i was just wondering about the insurance and how many others there are in my situation. thanks.

I've got one and I'm 18. I won't be 19 until christmas so am I possibly the youngest STi owner? About insurance, I don't know how much it is, parents pay for insurance but I make the payments and its I think $450-500 each month with 3.9% financing.

The sadder truth is the jealousy. I'm envious. I had a 79 ford van for my first car. YOu teens should buy an old POS like a 1975 Olds 88 and beat the crap out of it and crash into stuff (not people or other cars) just to get a feel of why you don't want to hit anything at speed.
STI at 18, maybe an Enzo at 30.
I'm 32 and working on my STI, hopefully my 03WRX will trade in next month for blue/gold.

did you not notice how I said I'm paying for the car payments just not the insurance? Ever try getting insurance on any sort of performance car when you're 18? BTW lobelsteve, my first car was old but it wasn't very crappy. That is unless you consider a 1968 Camaro SS a crappy car.

The sad truth is that you guys will never fully appreciate something that nice unless you worked for it.
Having a nice car is nothing, the real reward is knowing that you earned it. Maybe one day you guys will know that I speak the truth.
first off bao ling ... don't assume too much.. i'm 17 sure.. does that automatically mean that i didn't work for my car? haha it's sadder that people assume these things, and can't actually say much more than that. i earned/worked for my car... sure maybe a lot of kids are spoiled out there. but don't say "you guys" as if you are referring to everyone cuz that's too biased don't you think? i'm not *****in jus informing.. dont take this seriously..

i'm 19 as well, working for a car (maybe a wrx) since last may. since i've been working since last year, i wanted to buy a 99 eclipse gst in the spring of this year. fortunately, the 04 wrx caught my eye at the auto show in chicago in february. now i am still saving my money and maybe i will get a car next april-june. i will be putting down the down payment, i will pay the monthly payments, and i will pay for the insurance. the only way my parents might be involved, will be as cosigners, which will be useless because my payments = 100% of my car. which in fact, if only something should happen, my parents would be there. besides it will feel better when i look at my car, knowing that it was all about me to get it and save up for it. you learn to value things more if it comes out of your personal pocket.
sorry for the long post, but it's true.
generalwrx: an sti, huh. are you 100% sure?
