I know everyone is all about the STI. But i really like my rex. maybe if they would have had the wagon sti. i have my 2006 and it came with a 2.5 engine. strong engine, from what i hear easier to swap sti parts on. it has the same interior as the sti, just not the sti logos. the sti does has quiet a few more horses but its all in the mods. plus its a little bit cheaper than the sti. either way a subie is a great car either way you go.

sti also has better suspension (which you can upgrade the wrx to pass the suspension aspects) but the sti also has a much better drivetrain containing a DCCD as well as the new one has the Si-Drive doohicky

pxchoi- we are pretty much in the same position. Im planning on buying a sti here soon. I was originally looking at wrx's, but with more thought it would be smarter for me to get a sti. My Old Man use to always tell me "buy more car then you can afford, you wont regret it."

I got my 17" RE050 Pole Positions for $120 when they had them on sale. Or u could go with the cheaper Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 which perform great in the rain but doesn't grip as well (it has a harder compound for tread wear I guess).
I'll vouch for the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3s. They are an AWESOME street tire.
- amazing in the rain for evacuating water
- really do have about a 24k tread wear; YMMV
- more dry grip than you need on the street
- work well on track days and autox; but are not the most competitive
- pretty quiet for this performance level; sidewalls are a balance between comfort and response

I'm having a hard time choosing anything else because I don't compete in autox, and I'm more worried about driving skills than lap times on track days.

BFG g-force (wet + dry)

as far as wrx or sti? if you're in for the tune, then wrx cause you can scare some sti with well upgraded wrx otherwise, sti, it will scare many many cars out of dealer lot!

the thing I don't like about the eagle f1s are that they squeal a bit when making high speed turns 75% near the tire's limit. At the same speed or higher, the RE050PP don't squeal at all. But they are wearing out much faster than the Goodyears though in terms of normal treadwear (normal driving, occasional spirited runs, same with the Goodyears).

Yea I lived in Vancouver Washington when I bought my STi with the stock RE-070's and it was ok if you floor it in first second or third it will break all 4 tires loose when its wet and if you hit a turn hard it will slide but other than that i ran them all winter. they just suck in snow (for obvious reasons)
