It's for the older model cars. Most of the knowledge here is for Imprezas, Legacys and the like.
Getting more out of those is a challenge. Easiest is to swap in an EJ22 or EJ25 from a newer car, but you'll need the transmission, electrics and other stuff. Quite a bit of work; easier to just buy an Impreza (but NOT a 1.8).
