Recommendations for my first upgrade? 03' WRX

My '03 rex is bone stock, only thing ive added is some tints. I bought it in May of 2005.

What would you recommend I do for my first performance upgrade?

Accessport?

Catback?

Tax returns are coming and Im thinking about getting a little present for myself.

Thanks!

If you have the $600 to spend, get Cobbs AP. IMO I think its the easiest mod for the HP increase. Since youre not in lovely California, you can use Stage 1 with 93 octane and get an estimate of 260HP to the crank. Thats a good jump from the stock 227HP. This without having to bolt anything to the engine.

If not, get catless UP. Even though this really just gives you a slightly faster spool up and a small increase in HP but not much.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already knew which route I was gonna go for the most part, I just thought I would asked some of you guys with more experience.

I think Im going to go with the AP upgrade first. and also the Cobb rear sway bar as well. Wouldnt a catless UP give me emission problems when tested? The minor increase in HP isnt worth it if thats the case. I was just thinking of going with Cobbs catback system eventually.

there's a uppipe FAQ thread over at NASIOC.

you shouldn't have any problems smogging it with a catless uppipe and a stock turboback. i thought about that for a long time before i decided to go for the UP.

What about Prodrive springs? For the money ($280) you get a lot better handling and looks (1" drop)

Thanks guys, i think its gonna be a combo of the AP and suspension. More power needs better handling.

Thanks again!

Decent tires
COBB AP
Uppipe
Rear sway bar
Springs
Downpipe...

It all depends what you like.

You have to ask yourself what you like and what you don't like about the car, what you'd like to change. Would you like to stop better, accelerate faster, corner better?

Personally, I don't think you can beat the ap bang for buck and ease of instalation. Next I'd get an uppipe.

Yea thats the approach Ive been taking. I definitely want more low end power off the line, definitely going to get the AP. Thanks!
