Putting a STI turbo on '07 Wagon
Putting a STI turbo on '07 Wagon
I was wondering if anyone here has placed a STI turbo into a 06 or 07 WRX.
I currently am leasing an 05 STI and have had inumerable problems with the car, and I am trying to figure a way out (the car has had front diff, rear diff, right front axle, rear axles, and propeller shaft replaced, and the car is still driving poorly).
I am considering getting either a 07 Wagon/sedan, upgrading it with the turbo and SPT exhaust since these costs can be incorporated into a new lease. I would like to retain the fun factor of the STI. I would love to get into another STI , but financially too difficult since I am so early into my lease, but not early enough to qualify under the lemon law.
I would like to know if this is a fun combination, and if the transmission on the non STI version of the WRX can handle the power.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I also heard of alot of people doing the STI turbo swap on
there 02-05 WRX's.Personaly I think it's not worth it and
you will spend alot more money that way.It will not be cheap
by any means. What will end up happening is a major upgrade
like new turbo,intercooler,fuel pump,injectors,exhaust,accessport
and the list will go on and on etc. All that project will do is dollar you
to death to get the same thing that's on a STI.You should seriously
consider just trading in your 05 STI that is giving you problems and
get a 06 or 07 Subaru STI and you will be very happy in the end
that way and have the same set up you want and probably still be
spending less.

For the 06 and up the fuel pump and injectors are supposed to be adequate to support a mild upgrade to the turbo (VF34/VF39) but you would definately need to look further into it.
Exhaust and Engine management tuning would be a must.
Take an 07 WRX for a ride, and see how you can compare the differences between the STi and WRX trim. The WRX is a good platform in and of itself you may be surprised with it.
