) but other than that, it's been driven pretty respectably (no racing). Geez, I got better mileage from my last V8! I don't know if the K&N filter helps, but keep your tires well-inflated, and the AMSOIL guy swears to me that swapping out all the dino in the car for the synth will improve the mileage noticably. Take that with a grain of salt though. I hope mine improves through break-in too, or I'm going to have to start drafting trucks...

All Depends
I have a stock 02 Wagon...(hopefully not for too much longer)
I travel Rt. 66 for 40 miles out of my 42 mile one way commute each day... (Yes that is a total of 84 miles JUST getting to work... sigh) I would say 30 miles is mostly open with no traffic to slow me up and then I have some start/stopping BS after that.
Now, if I leave my car on cruise at 75mph and do not fidget with the accelerator all that much even with the 10 miles of start/stop BS I am turning 24 mpg or better.
Now, if I fidget with the accelerator and do not set the cruise I only turn 22 mpg.
I have found that even the slightest increase in acceleration effects the gas mileage on this thing. However, on average I turn 23 mpg - 24 mpg.
I turn 20mpg when I run the snot out of it but I really have yet to break into the lower teens, I just do not do enough "around town driving".
I am also using Mobile One Super Syn 5w-30 which you can buy a half a case from Costco/Bj's/Sam's for $23. This beats the $62 oil change charge for synthetic, I only pay $18 for labor and filter.

I edited your subject to reflect what the subject is about, no need to put 'noobie' in the subject line, just make sure you make it reflect what the thread is about you will have more hits and responces that way.

I was hoping that was you and not someone just bitin' your name.
I've known Vinroc since we were kids.
Anyway to answer your questions, switching to synthetic will help as will keeping the revs below 3K. I also got crappy mileage on my first tank, but it got a little better after.
Peace
