Is the optional STI shifter worth it for a 2006 STI?

Hi I'm new and soon to be a first time subaru owner. I was just wondering if the optional STI shifter was worth purchasing from the dealer or are they offering the same thing as a Kartboy short shifter at a higher cost?

Yeah, just stick with the Kartboy. The dealer option is a huge waste of money.

The dealer optional short shifter is actually not as short as the kartboy.

What you do get is all the linkage and everything...but, that stuff is a marginal improvement.

Get the Kartboy and get the upgraded bushings from them as well...much better purchase and you'll save money too.

Go for the Kartboy with the front and rear bushings. Amazing feel and performance. Way better than paying all outdoors for the factory unit.

Factory unit sucks.

I have it I know..(came pre-installed)

I doesn't allow you to shift as fast as the stock linkage... If you do you'll risk grinding your gear/synchro's.

Why is that? (genuinely curious)

I have an 04 with the stock shifter and while it's been ok, I'd like the throws to be a bit shorter. Thinking about the Kartboy + bushings next.

The karboy with shift linkage bushings and rear bushing is awesome. Very good engagement and a lot shorter than stock. Very good products from kartboy and also very easy to install.

It was already on my 06 STI and worked fine...Kartboy's is cheaper and also works very good.
