OMG STI Insurance

Sorry, figured the title might grab your attention. So I switched to Geico recently due to the fact that I'm now paying LESS THEN HALF of what I paid when I was with progressive on my 04 Silverado SS daily driver and my 03 Z06 'fun toy'. Currently the Z is costing me 900 and change with Geico, but if I got rid of my Z for an STI (which I've been really itching to do!) it would jump from 900 and change to 2000 and change even with it being a weekend driver on the policy, and this is a 2004 model. Just curious what you all are paying, as something here doesn't add up right. I'm 20 paying 900 for a 55k sports car, and they want 2k+ to cover a 30k 4 door sedan....Seem fishy to anyone else?

I would imagine the STi to be more of a liability than the Z06 because a younger group tends to drive the STi and I'd imgaine more STis are wrecked/totaled than Z06'. I'm not positive on the reasoning though. I do know that a brand new NSX was cheaper to insure than my 98 240sx was.

I find this hard to believe. My friend's uncle had a 2002 NSX and his insurance was 7k/yr.....

Hmmm....thats what I was thinking, that more WRX's are probably wrecked by people in my age group then Corvettes, but I still figured that they'd look at me as being a HUGE risk being young with a Corvette. I don't wanna pay more for the STI, but I REALLY really want it, I miss my old WRX a lot. I don't have a garage so I have to pay to store it, and I refuse to drive in it inclimate weather, I'm in CT so tons of snow for me. To me the STI is the perfect car for here, will be amazing in all the snow as I wouldn't worry to much about babying it like I do my Z, so that means no more storage fees. But the best part of owning a WRX, let alone an STI is the fun-factor it has. Although I always have a smile when I'm driving the Z, theres just something about the WRX that makes me smile, they're a blast to drive all day long. Dame these insurance rates!

I'm going to try and get one this week and I was quoted at $725 for 6 mos. Just to give an idea of my situation, I'm 26 and that's without any sort of anti-theft devices. My insurance company is generally kind of high but they pay out pretty good without any trouble.

I am 19, clean record, no accidents and I pay around $220.00/month on my 2002 WRX Sedan, which comes out to be like $1300 for six months. That is for full coverage, I am single, not a home owner, and am between the age of 16 and 25, oh and I live in California.

i was quoted the same $202 a month for my 04 wrx. im 20 and have 2 points. the only shocker was that when the insurance bill cameit was $91 a month. dont ask me how it happend! all i know is that im happy thanks state farm! its actually less to insure this car with full coverage then my integra with just liability. i think the agent you go to is what counts the most.

I am currently with Mercury Casulaty, through C&K Insurance... The place I was before that, before I bought my car, they would have wanted over $300/month. Screw that, I found something much better.

you lucky bastard.... . I wish I had that much extra $$$/month. My 92 Integra was $189/month with Bristol for full coverage. State Farm wanted to charge me $290/month after my "good student" discount was expired.
