oil level too high
changed my oil recently and accidentally ended up putting in too much oil (synth). the level is just above the "F." how important is it to remain below this mark. should i remove some or will it potentially cause problems if left alone.
thanks
thanks
if the engine is cold (not run in 4 hours) and it's *just* above F, i think you're ok.

buy a fumotovalve (non nipple), and you in the future, your oils changes will go Smoother and if something happens like you put in too much, it's super easy to take out a tenth or two of a quart!

you should stay within the two marks on the dip stick. anything more than full can cause a leak. (but we are talking like 1/2 of qt or more) when the oil pressure builds in the engine, oil will typically go out the weakest point. which is usually a gasket. the easiest way to remove excess oil would be to just remove the oil filter and drain whats in the filter and what comes out of the filter spout. this is usually only about 1/3 to 1/2 a qt. after start the engine and recheck.
