i think an s2000 has better top end then a wrx (redlines @ around 8k), plus it's modded, so i wouldn't be surprised

I hope it was on a track.

WRX's will fall back on top end to a lot of high performance cars.

New Turbo would help top end (depending on which one you choose)

Was this just a quarter mile? or were you racing on a track that had a longer straight then that?

It isn't that his car is "built for high end," even though it can handle higher RPMs.

The s2000 is more areodynamic, lighter weight and does not have the parasitic drag of two extra differentials for AWD. Drivetrain loss for a car of that type is 15-20% vs. the almost 40% at high speed the WRX suffers. AWD is a serious liability in an asphalt road race past 60 MPH.

Your car doesn't have enough power to match or beat the S2000's power-to-weight ratio. Also, the S2000 top end gearing is probably better suited to the engine's power band, whereas the 5MT's 5th gear is for fuel economy, only, not top speed.

Please don't post references to street racing or speed contests on public roads. I'm sure you can figure out another way to ask your question.
