New to Subaru...

Hi there guys, I been looking for a car that is AWD and sporty and came across the WRX. Now, being a Rx7 Owner and Corrently a Tiburon Owner. I wanted something with AWD so when I move to Minnesota I have that for the Winter to get around. My budget would be tight to try to afford a STi version so I have a few question about the WRX or Impressa.

1. From what year did they started making the AWD Sporty car by Subaru with turbo?

*Reason I ask I don't mind getting a old version to get use to at first.

2. Why dose the WRX wheels are gold color? Any meaning behind it?

Whats the Pro and Con about this cars if anyone can tell me or point me in the right direction so I can read about it.

3. Whats the different between the WRX and Impreza 2.5 RS?

Thanks in Advance for taking your time to answer this questions. I am really leaning toward Subaru for AWD Sport Car.

1) 2002+ US Impreza WRXes had turbos.

2) It looks nice? (I don't know personally)

3) WRX has a 2.0 liter engine and a turbo, while the 2.5 RS has a 2.5L and no turbo.

1. The old RX had a turbo back in the 80s, along with AWD.

2. The standard WRX isn't available with gold wheels, but the WRX STi is. The blue and gold are the "team colors" for Subaru's rally team.

3. The WRX has a turbo, while the 2.5RS does not.

Welcome to the site. Enjoy your stay.

2. WRX is a rally car and the car used in the rally scene is blue(subaru world rally blue) with gold rims cause its looks pretty sweet so it became a subaru trademark
3. 2.5L are still pretty sweet if ya have the dinero to put on a turbo cause only draw back of a WRX02-05 is that they are only a 2.0L Turbo while the STi(correctly spelled w/a lower case i) comes with a 2.5L Turbo. Sweet deal on 06 wrx though is that they now also have a 2.5L Turbo

Cool, Thanks guys for this info. This will help alot but now that someone meantion about a old RX around the 80's with AWD and Turbo. I hope someone can post a picture of what it looks like and if they are hard to find around.

Also, just wondering if my budget was around 4-8K for a car, what year and model AWD Turbo or Non Turbo which I can maybe Turbo up would be good to pick up? No Wagon please.

Thanks In Advance!

A buddy of mine has one. It's one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen. It looks like a 4 door version of an early 80s Mazda 626.....

You'll probably be able to do a Google Search and find a pic of one....

Yea I bet they are ugly being that is hard to find nice sexy cars in the 80's. I had my First Generation Rx7 which was not bad looking for an 80's car.

Yeah, sexy cars weren't a thing of the 80s, but there surely were some sharp models. I can't help but to love the Buick Grand National, '89 Pontiac Turbo T/A and GTA (my dad owns an '89 GTA), Chevrolet IROC-Z, and '87 Monte Carlo SS. Not to mention, the Ferrari 288 GTO, Lamborghini Countach, McLaren F1, and the Ferrari F40, just to name a few.
