Smile My review for 2005 STi

After having the car for 2 week let me share my feelings about my new baby car...

First, let's start with the pros:
1.) The obvious, 300hp and unbelievable handling... gotta love it.
2.) Rev limiter and I/C spray are tons of fun and very useful.
3.) Manual traction control is off the hook.
4.) The interior is not bad looking at all... love the red stiching on the steering wheel and hand brake.
5.) Headlight adjuster is very handy.
6). HIDs with auto off.
7.) Great exterior look, love the wing and the subtle body kit.
8.) Love the STi logo found in many different places around the car.
9.) Nice Brembo brakes and BBS rims... not to mention the bad *** Bridgestones that come stock with this baby.
10.) Seats look great, although not that comfy though.
11.) Virtually no turbo lag.
12.) Spacious trunk.
13.) Cool clear brake light located between trunk and spoiler.
14.) Grabs peoples attention... plus its not that common on the streets.

Now let's go to the cons:
1.) Crappy speakers...
2.) The shifting in this car is not that great. You feel a little lost sometimes while shifting... I just got the STi short-throw shifter today and boy does it make a big difference!
3.) I don't like the sound of the engine when its idle...
4.) The shift **** stands a little too high. Corrected it a little with the titanium shift **** but now the feeling and comfort of the grip on the shift **** has become worse.
5.) The performance brakes results in tons of brake dust too... black rims all the time.
6.) The cup holders are horrible.
7.) Miss the home link system from my previous TL.
8.) No button on the remote to open the trunk keyless.
9). Need to take off the entire headlight assembly to change the parking light? WTF?
10.) Green light from console doesn't really match with the red light from the gauges. Plus the green light looks kinda crappy.
11.) Red gauges are cool for a couple minutes and then starts to be not that great. It kinda hurts my eyes for some reason.
12.) Rear leg room is small....

Even with all these cons, this car still kicks massive ***! I love this car and everyday that I drive it I just keep loving it more and more... if you are thinking about getting this car don't wait any longer! You will not regret it...

Maybe that they turn off when you turn off the car? Not sure...

I don't know how handy the headlight level adjustment is but I do like it. The manual says it's for varying loads.

And about the red stitching, is it really red? Some people say it looks pink. I don't care one way or the other, just wondering what other people know/think.

...
just to comment on your analysis... just my 2 cents...
i drive an 04 sti and i'm glad i didnt get a stereo system, thats what aftermarket ones are for!
- the engine at idle...thats the boxer motor! the whole point of getting a subaru.
- PERFORMANCE BRAKES = insane dust, but thats the price you pay for awesome braking capability.
-cup holders? homelink? maybe its just me but i bought a performace car.

Its funny that you went out and bought an STi, then gave fellow STi owners a review of what they already drive. Its a good thing ur happy with it, or else u'd be out a few grand in resale value.

^^is that sarcasm?? if not, ur headlights turn on and off automatically, if left in the "on" position. i.e. u cannot accidentally leave ur headlights on.

I'm planning on gettin my 05 STi tomorrow, had an 04 Aspen White/Gold, but going to switch it up to the Blue/Gold. Does anyone know if the new car rattles as bad as the old one did?

Agreed re: the seats. I've never been comfortable in them regardless of seat position. They're firm, yet don't hold well during cornering. Whenever I ride in my friend's wrx, it almost puts me to sleep the seats are so comfy.

The red gauges: you probably know this, but there is an interior light dim slider switch on the left stalk if the red is too bright for you

I would assume so. I have a 2005 WR Blue that I got a month ago with 1,550 miles on it already and it rattles a bit. In fact, it was rattling the first week after I got it. Like people often say when I complained about the rattles, turn on the radio and forget about it... I was expecting the built quality to be better since its 100% Japanese but I guess no car is perfect, there is nothing you or the dealer can do about it
