My first car

Hello i-Club members,

For my graduation present I got a 2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS with 47,000 miles on it. I would like to start the tuning process. For my first modification(s) I would like to spend between 1000 and 2000 dollars. What should I add?!?!?! It can't be anything that would void the powertrain warranty.

Please use your infinite Subaru knowledge to help me out on this one.

cat-back exhaust and intake wouldnt void the warranty...but some1 please correct me if im wrong...do u want a good suspension or a lot of hp?

I would like a good suspension. However, I don't really want to lower my car. The car came with aftermarket wheels. Although the wheels are cool, they are 17x7s with 215-35-17 tires and don't really fit inside the wheel-wells.

Is there a way to make them fit inside the wheel-wells without buying new wheels?

If not I may consider new wheels and coil overs, or just some Cusco sway bars.

Eibach springs and KYB AGX struts, total about $625 shipped and work great together.

The wheels aren't too large in diameter, so I assume you mean they catch the fenders. The offset is wrong- chuck 'em. There are few wheels that are correct for Subarus. Don't buy any wheel unless you see at least 2 people on the boards who have them already and like them.

Anything can be considered to void your warrenty if the dealership can prove it somehow did.

Can anyone recommend light wheels that will work with the lowering kit (fit under the wheel wells) and look cool?

Light? Stockers weigh only 16 pounds each, and don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure they'll fit.

for 17", go with Rotas from Suby Dude or Prodrive wheels. As long as you do't mind using wheels lots of other people have. I'd take a quick look through the wheel and tire forum for opinions there.
