i was wondering what the deal was with the MR after seeing pics of it from the Tokyo Auto show. it sounds like it should be a real monster, though i'm not so sure about the electronically controlled AWD system. i hope we're getting the ACD/AYC that the JDM/EDM models get.
it's like the cold war all over again, but in a good way

It does say anything about it being for the US market...
RS and GSR?? in the US, ti's just the Lancer Evoltion 8.
AND we didn't get the AYC and all that neat stuff... it mention electronically controlled drivetrain.

we get the evo's here as imports and seriously guys they are just to dear and seriously lacking in power for the money.
i will use the 6.5 makinen edittion for the example as it was there best.
to buy an evo you would be looking at between $60,000 to $80,000 dollars here.
you can pick up a standard wrx or even a heavily modded one from $20,000 to $30,000.
you spend that difference on a wrx an no evo in the world would ever come close.
dont get me wrong i have nothing against the car just the price tag on it.
reason being is that most of the people who own them are strugling to make them fast.
i raced one here where i live and it had been tuned by ralliart australia he was telling me before we went to race and he had done the usual mods.
i only had an exhaust a chip and pod filter on my car.
we started from a rolling start at about 40kmh in second and we took off i pulled a good half a car lenght on him straight away by the time i change into third i had a bit over a car length.
i was doing about 120kmh by this point and he was just droping off so i backed off and went back to the servo.
i get out at the servo and him and his friend come over and start looking all over the front of my car.
i said what are you looking for boys.
they said to see if you have a front mount.
so i poped the bonnet and said no jsut a standard top mount mate.
well the look on his face was priceless.
his mate then goes that has to be fake, he has to have a fmic.
i said where is the piping if i have a fmic be cause it would have to be connected to where this hose is. [ pointing to the intake manifold where the top mount connects].
so i put my bonnet down and just laugh at them as they try to tell me i have nos then.
now this bloke lives near me and he is a spoilt little rich kid his dad also bought him a 02 sti.
which he also tried to race me in and failed.
mind you these races took place on a four lane highway at 2am when there was no one else around.

Everyone just calm down! Subaru already have the Spec C in Japan and that is already phenomenal using the 2.0 litre. If they brought the Spec C to the States with the 2.5litre engine, then anything is possible.
but I'd personally wait for the Evo 9 that has 380bhp or was it 9millionbhp, can't remember

People are going to need some serioius cash, I can see many trading in their cars every year to have the biggest and best, wee. Going to be lots of upside down trade ins when that comes out.
Going to be a ***** trying to keep up with such expensive toys. I'm happy with my STI since it was a major purchase for me at 29k. I can imagine just how expensive the next gen of EVO's/STI's will be in the coming years.

NYCSTI, nicely put. here here!
My STI was a major purchase for me too. I bought the car because I really wanted one for what it was and not because it was the best of the best or my car is faster than your car. I loved the new look, schitt fast acceleration and most importantly the day to day driveability of it as a small family sedan
