MOMENTUM turbo users

Hey, as stated in a previous post, I do NOT have any business affiliations with anyone on these forums, I am not in business for myself, I do not have a business liscense, I do not sell anything. I work at a job for someone else 40 hours a week in the construction industry. that being said:

It has come to my attention that there are momentum turbos out there that died and were not warrantied. no one ever contacted me about this, every turbo that was a problem child was dealt with, so I was told, and everything was fine.

Well, I've talked to a few people that said that they had some problems with the turbos after momentum was gone. This is TWO YEARS later! No one called emailed me or threatened to blow up my house-none of the vendors told me anything!

So, even though I no longer am in business, I thought I would put a feeler out there and make sure that no one lost any money because of this issue. If anyone had a problem with these turbos, and it was not resolved, PM me. I will do my best to make the problem right.

I was never in business to rip anyone off or screw people. I always made an effort to treat people right, and I was 100% convinced that my product was good. When it became obvious that it was not good enough, I stopped selling it. I didn't go out of business or go bankrupt-I simply stopped doing it when it became obvious that I was being lied to.

Please feel free to post how much of a dick I am, or how bad momentum sucked. I'll take it, because those turbos were not good enough. BUT PLEASE! PM me if you had a problem.

While I'm waiting for replies I'll play story time with uncle turbo:

MOMENTUM turbos were actually pretty good turbos IF they were put together correctly. Lots of people still run them with no problems. Too many people had some big problems with them, though, and the problems were due to two things:

1)Bad ethics by the factories making them
2)Sloppy, simple assembly at the factory

The actual factory in Taiwan knew about a problem with the compressor wheels in the turbos. The problem was solved, but the factory decided to clear out the old stock of wheels and just try to get away with it. I guess if you are a turbo factory, you don't care about warranty claims, because you have so many markets for your products. If you are MOMENTUM, something like that is a big deal.

What was happening was the compressor wheels were balanced incorrectly, which weakened the compressor wheel itself. The wheel would last a very short time and fail. We were told that the wheels were out of circulation, but they were not. That was bad, and all of those turbos were warrantied because they didn't last long. That was about 90% of the problems with the turbos.

Another ridiculous problem from the factory was simple assembly. The rotating assembiels were balanced and assembled with great care, and then they would hand over the cartridge to trog the taiwanese caveman who would damadge the compressor wheel putting the cover on, or put the turbine housing on the center housing incorrectly, and the turbo would fail because of it.

Way after we were gone, about a year after, I heard that the thrust bearing was wrong/bad on some of the turbos. Not sure about that, but the guy who told me definitely was in the know about all of this, so I believe him.

Now, like I said in the above post, I have heard that there were some MOMENTUM units that failed out there after we were gone, but no one has contacted me. I have said until i was blue in the face that most turbo failures are immediate and catastropic, if they are due to defect.

I'm guessing that the failures I heard about were long term, so something like dirty oil, bad warm up, torn air inlet, etc., is PROBABLY to blame.

Like I said before, when it was obvious that the factory wasn't 100% commited to selling a perfect product, I stopped selling it. Same as tc.com-we both had the same problem, and that was that we beleived the factory's BS. When I started selling these turbos, I was totally convinced that I was selling a quality product that wouldn't fail and would deliver. I wouldn't have even done it if I thought the turbos were no good, and when it was obvious that they were not perfect, I said "no more."
