Idiot of the year award!
I know it is early but I herby nominate myself for the Subie Idiot of the Year Award after last night.
I was driving home from an NLL game last night and as I pulled off the highway I glanced in the rear view mirror. The driver behind me must have thought I was going to slow for him so he decided to pass me on the right only to cut in front of me right before the next stop light because the lane he was in was a right turn only lane. The stop light enters into a housing development so anybody who lives there knows that you have to be in the lane that I was in in order to drive into it.
So, I was a little irritated. I pulled up behind him a bit closer than usual. Just to say hey. The light turned green and we started off.
I was still a little irritated. So, I tailgated a bit for a mile or so. Maybe a car length back but at 40-45mph on that road it was too close. There is about 1.5 miles before the road merges onto another road. As we began the merge I was probably two to three car lengths back at this point and had everything worked out of my system.
Then, he slows down dramatically on the turn which causes me to get up on him since I like taking that turn at speed. Yea, I was still too close.
Then, he comes to a full stop! As he does this I am think Oh great!
But wait, it gets worse! As he steps out I about crap my pants when I see it is a man in blue
Probably coming off a shift and a bad day.
I roll down my window and he says, "Are you playing a ****ing game?". I responds with clever, "No."
He then yells, "Well then get off my **** *** or I will call someone down here and have them give you a ticket!" I then respond with an even more witty, "Uhh, yes sir."
Egads, what a dumb****. Just a lesson to be learned that road rage can happen even for silly crap and the other person might have had an even worse day than you! And be a cop!
At the next stop light after about a mile of thinking what a dumbass I was I pulled along side and offered an apology. He also apologized for yelling and we went on our way.

I would've told that cop to **** off. He shouldn't have cut me off to begin with, and without a witness I can't be cited for such a low crime. Being that he's off duty, all he is is a civilian.

He was out of line stopping in the middle of the road like that. He could have caused an accident. My dad and grandfather where returning a rental one time. My grandfather stoped to tell my dad, who was following, that he needed to dim his lights. A cop came along and gave them a parking ticket for parking in a no parking zone. He was in the wrong, and couldn't have done anything to you IMO. I'm not saying that harassing him was a good idea, but two wrongs don't make a right, or a left for that matter.

Yea, I thought about pulling up to him afterwards at the next stop light and saying, "Wanna race?"
I wouldn't say he cut me off but going around me on the right just to sneek back in front of me within 50 yards with out any signal pissed me off.
But I got lucky and was a total wuss! When he got out the first thing I noticed was he was in uniform and with shield. And, it seemed like he had his hand on his hip so I was totally crapin
my pants!
I still think he was wrong for passing and stopping but I was
wrong too.

ahahahaha.... That sucks...could have be worse tho..
I used to own a Mustang. One afternoon I was driving home, I was stopped at a light. When the light turned green I went. I noticed that the guy behind me was all over my *** and started to pass me on a two lane road. Well I was 20 and wasn't going to let that happen. So I gun it. He's door to door with me when all of a sudden I noticed the Police emblem on that door.
Well needless to say I slowed down big time and he just kept going past me and down the road. I do have to add that he did not have his lights on.
I figure I was pretty lucky and amazingly stupid.

I would remember also that alot of people have a lot less to lose than you do, and they don't really give a crap what they do to someone else i.e. if the guy wasn't a cop, but some felon with a gun, your day could have turned out really bad.
Just some things to think about.

maybe you shoulden't have stopped when he did? If possible.
I might have this award as well... bent my control arm when I hit a curb which I thought was a speedbump covered in snow...

About 15 yrs ago when I was underaged, still drank alcohol, and was very dumb (as opposed to now, I'm just dumb now
) I was stationed in N. Cal. A friend and I were heading up to San Jose to party and were already pretty liquoured up.
A cop passed me doing about 90 w/o lights on (IIRC, traffic was moving about 70). I figured, "he can't do that w/o his lights on. He's gotta obey traffic laws the same as everyone else". So I picked up speed and paced him.
He would slow down so then I would, then he'd go back up to 90 so then I would. Finally he slowed down and got behind me. Must've thought I was certifiable.
He threw on his lights and pulled me over. Believe it or not, as drunk and young and as dumb as I must've seemed to him, he just gave me a written warning.
That experience somehow took away much of the effect of the liquor for the rest of the night.
