you guys can just buy 98 octane at any ole gas station? holy ****! With just alittle tuning and a turbo back exhaust i ran a 13.7 at 4600 feet elevation in my full weight 02 WRX at 17 lbs boost on the stock hair dryer. that was with 100 octane fuel though and i would have been lucky to pull a 14 flat on 91 octane. and ill tell you if I were at sea level i would have run lower than a 13.3 easy. when i drive to california my car is sick fast compared to here. and ive never fealt the combo of 100 cocktane and low elevation together. I agree that the JDM wrxs were lighter and had more power, but with just alittle tuning, and TLC you can nearly duplicate that. Im just still flipping out over the fact that you can get 98 octane unleaded at all the gas stations. I pay $3.67 per gallon for that ****.
I agree that we are getting the shaft but that just means it takes alittle skill to hit times like you guys are.

It's lame, IMO. That's why I like regional forums - people there are usually cool cuz they know they'll probably end up meeting you in real life one day, and then they could have a problem.

i am on the gold coast in queensland.
where they hold the australian indy car race.
yeah mate fuel here is good and pretty cheap about 82 cents a litre.
good times for those mods mate.
i have a 98 model and stock standard on good fuel it ran a 13.7.
i then put a turbo back 3 inch exhaust a chip and a pod filter and on 17psi it ran a 13.2.
i then put a vf23 turbo on it and ran a 12.5 on 98 octane pump fuel at 17psi.
the car is a bit of a freak so my tuning shop keeps telling me.
this engine is also completely stock no forgies or anything like that.
to show you how tuff a wrx engine is i have done alot of drag and other racing and even with the boost always on 17psi the engine did 173,643km before i blew a head gasket and i have had hudreds of races in this car.
the car actualy blew the gasket the day before i was going to put it on the dyno.
as it was only in the water jacket as no oil and water had mixed we dynoed the car anyway which was a bit risky but i have to rebuild it anyway.
it put out 177.4kw@all 4 wheels even with the blown gasket.

it is good to meet such a cool bunch of americans for once.
you guys are tops in my book.
here is a pic of my car at willowbank racey way in queensland australia.
if any of you guys are planning a trip to australia the best time to come would be in september as you would be able to see the biggest import event held in this country.
i dont know if any of you have heard of it but it is called the fast fours and rotary jamboree.
it used to only be for 4cyl imports and rotars but they have let 6cyl imports in now to as long as they are powered by a *** or euro engine. hot cars hot chicks and it goes for 2 days.
here is a link to the site for it.
