Question Highbeam Flicker

Driving home tonight with my highbeams on, I noticed them flickering and becoming dim at certain times. I had my radio on and I have the premium sound system. I wouldn't think the amp and the subwoofer would be powerful enough to cause this though (especially with the FM radio playing and the volume down rather low). The flickering occured at random times and was very subtle. Anyone else experience this?

Were you just driving over a bumby road? On my vette I used to get a "flickering" type of effect when i went over bumpy surfaces. I would imagine that running a radio and the headlights should not drain the system. If it is truely draining that much power then it's possible that your alternator or battery is the culprit. How many miles do you have on the car?

It is a brand new '04 with almost 500 miles on it (original headlights). The road surface I was driving on was smooth. If it continues, I'll have the dealer take a look at it. Thanks for the input guys.

That's probably what it will end up being. I am going to take a ride tonight once it gets dark and see what happens.
