Help... Oil leak
I am new to the subee world and digging it so far.
well I scored an 03 impreza wrx sedan from the second owner, he said after he had cash in hand that the car(and most wrx's he knows use oil between oil changes and to keep an eye on it)
welp im a mechanic and I work on everything from my girls BMW Z4 to my Harleys to my rock crawler and my 29 ford rat rod
well a couple of days ago I see smoke coming fromt he scoop and smeel burning oil?? I pull over as soon as I can and its not smoking... hmm
get home and get it up in the air and see oil on filter and front of block.
I clean it all off and check the timing belt cover bolts and they are all tight.
so I drive for a couple hundy miles and then yesterday I get under it again and see that the oil is coming from between the timing belt cover and block...great!
? is any idea how to and is there a gasket that goes between the timing cover and the block? or o ring or what?
I don't do oil leak and I want this fixed.
thanks for your help

That's a common leak and one that does need to be fixed unfortunately. I had the same thing happen on my 96 Legacy Outback.
Consuming oil is NOT normal for ANY car. People who say that about Subarus are lazy, cheap or both. A properly maintained car does not leak.
