I have sucessfully steered a co-worker of mine to the WRX -- took some doing (his wife hates the styling) but its the right car for him. He wants speed and he wants it for less than $25k.

I am an Audi guy -- so other than knowing that the WRX is damn fine automobile -- I know jack all about the car. I had a buddy helping me when I bought my S4 -- and it was really helpful.

Now I want to do the same for my co-worker -- he is not a big guy on forums and such, so he will rely on me to tell him what's what. So ... with all that in mind ... what info would be helpful to my bud?

What options should he be looking to get? Options to avoid? What's up with the upgraded muffler and suspension options? Is the the aftermarket better?

Wagon or Sedan -- I say wagon, I like the looks better, but anything other than looks to be concerned about?

How close to invoice pricing should he be looking for? Any really good dealers in L.A.?

Anything else?

Oh, lastly -- so I can show him the possibilities -- can some of you all post pics of your rides with aftermarket wheels and other "purty" mods?

for pricing it depends on the year he's looking into. for 03's people have been getting them for 21-23k cuz dealerships are trying to get rid of them for the 04's. and the 04's should be going for 25-27k.

besides the re-modeling of the front and back, the engine and everything else pretty much stays the same, so you could be getting a damn good deal for the 03's, well under your friend's 25k price range. i suggest the 03's. (the bug eyed lights grow on you)
