Unhappy Help my poor suby

Hi all,

Just got my 04 WRX recently and was very happy to drive it around in the weekend even it was rainy here in the bay area.

I was then tyring to make a quick 90 degree turn on a muddy road. But it start to spin and run on to the curb at ~30 mph.
There is no noticable damage, luckly.

Now the steering wheel is vibrating while I am driving on the highway(don't feel anything while driving slowly). I am quite worried there is something wrong on the chassis. And hopefully thing will be gone after I balance my tires.

Can you guys suggest me what to do ? Is there any nice shop in the bay area which can take care of my suby and changes reasonable amount?

Thanks.

I hit a curb at about the same speed but a bit more direct in my nissan 200sx. It cracked the wheel and the axel and bent the control arm. Try looking under the car if you see any metal stress or bent parts.

Pfff...at least you didn't loose control at 70 mph on high way and smash into 2 guard rails like I did the day before Thanksgiving :-|

(no I wasn't speeding or playing around, I had gotten an alignment the day before, that's prolly what caused it)

You could have knocked a weight off of the wheel. That would cause the problem you described. Take it to the dealer and tell him that your car shakes on the highway and you think it is the wheel balancing. Mine shook from the factory, they balanced the wheels for free. Just don't mention your little incident.

i work at a tire shop. i agree with everyone. the them balanced and aligned. save you alot of headache later. when they align it have them look around for abnormalities. they should do it anyways though.

Thanks a bunch for all the responds. This is really a
nice forum.

So I will go for the alignment and hopefully it will fix it.
At the same time, I am looking for new wheels/tires. The
prodrive looks really nice but not too many places
have them.

Please also Let me know if you have any suggestion.

My car got its allignment screwed up after sliding off of the highway at 70 and it vibrated at high speeds. No suspension or wheel damage, but I didnt get it fixed and need two new tires. Get an allignment to be safe. If you did bend somthing, check out Vivid Racing in the suspension area, at the under body icon. They have Cusco front lateral links, if you bent stock, spend the few extra bucks and upgrade.

i aggree with everyone that said balance/alignment. ask the guys at the shop if you can look under the car when its up on the rack. then you can check for damage yourself, and ask them to check also.

RE92s + water = a load of ****

Well when you upgrade your tires, just make sure to still be careful. Too many wet roads with too many people lives at stake.
