Actually, jvb is the douche bag. That was a vague question, and the second ? was just as bad. What gear do you take turns in? come on. Speed, tires, pavement, weather, suspension, traffic, camber and many other factors will determine what gear you should be in. Oh yeah, how nuts you wanna get...

hairpin with a 10 foot radius --> first gear

normal street 90 deg turn with 30 foot curb return --> second gear about 30 mph

freeway cloverleaf w/ about 100 foot radius on ramps --> 2nd most likely into 3rd gear already 55 to 60 mph give or take, depends on the camber of the turn and waht not

does that answer your question better, i don't really feel like responding to every type of turn there is.

please be more specific in your questioning

oh and to answer the question about the hard turn, rainy day, bald tires

because its fun and you slide all over the place, drift that thing, woohoo

yeah. once again...each turn is different.
how wide it is, how smooth, what kinda surface, how good ur car is supsension wise.
the wider the turn...the straighter the line = the higher the speed.
the angel of the turn determines the speed...but the general rule of thumb is to be above 4.5k when ur turning so u have enough power to power out...
also...skills is a big part. u gotta worry about braking, shifting the weight, turning it at certain points of the apex...etc.

ur quesitn is very unspecific. i could say..i turn at 80 on the freeway when they have bends. dats a type of turn. i could say 5mph because of the fact im in a parking structure.

just go out and drive ur car...and try and go in fast and fast out. when teh car starts to feel unstable. try adjust what ur doing in controlling the car rather than just the speed. trying turning in early, turning in late, gasing early, etc...
its a skill gained through experience

it really depends...
hair ping, sweeper, increasing radius, decreasing radius, going in from a straight, going out to a straight? These are just few type of turns I could think of.

now comes 'condition'. dirt, mud, gravel, snow, tarmac, standing water. and again, those are some very standar 'simple' surface. wait until you get to combination.

now I am not even going to get into up or down hill and camber.

people are not being a jerk about it, we just really have no idea what you mean.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark here, and guess that jvb is looking for tips like:

1. If you need to slow down to make the turn, get the majority of your braking finished before you turn in.
-- for the next two, you really need to be familiar with the road you're on --

2. If you had to brake, down shift to a gear that will give lots of get-up-and-go when you accelerate out of the turn. <if you know the road, you'll have a good idea of how fast you can take the turn, and which gear to shift to>

3. Aim for the apex

Those are the only rules I know that can apply to pretty much every turn. A good performance driving school can teach you how to take turns better than any forum board ever could.
