good plastic repair?

I got scammed on ebay (first time ever). I bought an air box and it turned out to have a big chunk broken out of it. I am looking for a good plastic repair substance to fix it so I dont take a total hit on the item..
Would JB weld work? Is there something better I could try?

Is this a Subaru piece or some aftermarket air box? Can you post a pic so we can see the area you are describing?

yes subaru box,
this is the best picture I have of it at the moment.
Notice how the mounting tab on the right side of the air box is 'drooping' and the clip is at an odd angel. The entire aria around that tab and where the clip is sacured to the box was broken off. It broke clean so there are no little gaps or multipul pieces.
I will take a better picture of the damage when i get home today.

If you are stuck with this air box, you might be able to repair it but it won't be pretty. That retaining clip makes it difficult to effect a long-term repair with epoxy because that area will be in constant tension when the clip is locked down.

Whatever compound you end up trying, you'll have to make sure the area is free of dust and oil and moisture before applying the stuff.

If the joint fails after you've glued it back together, you might try to build up the area with a thin layer of epoxy along the outside and inside of the broken area so that the epoxy can work with a larger surface area.

Was the air box packed properly in the shipping box? Was the box crushed upon arrival, indicating the damage was done en route? Was it sent insured?

Good luck with your repair.

it was wrapped with bubble wrap in a tight box. the box had no extral damage there was no impression of the mount on the inside like you would expect if it would be damaged in shipping. I just wanted to try the airbox out and see how it would sound without the modified one that i have now..

Get a fiberglass repair kit. I just used one to fix rust in a fender. It is kind of a pain to work with, but would be air tight and be able to hold under tension. Might be worth a try if you have to use it.
