if you're that kind of aggressive driver, then drive yourself dead, but when you got passengers, you better goddamn think about them because that guy that's driving can probably face criminal charges, like Danny Heatley.

I just hate people that are this irresponsible, I feel bad for the guy that died, but the driver should get what he deserves for being that irresponsible.

I just hope people learn from this and the other accidents that occur EVERY DAY involving stupid drivers and innocent people. Owning an expensive or fast car does not give you the right to go fast with it or any car for that matter. :/

you haev no right to say he should get the book thrown at him
for all you know the passenger could have be egging him on to take the corner faster.
but yes, the driver should know his limits

that is true, the guy could've egged him on, BUT, as the driver of the car, YOU are in control. Ultimately it is YOU the driver who takes responsibility for ALL the occupants of the vehicle.

Egged on or not, the guy should know his own limits of ability, and excercise common sense. I was reading through all those posts as well, and someone mentioned, that a passenger HAS the right to tell the driver to slow down if he thinks he is in danger.

The driver then also has that same right to deny the passenger's request to go faster, it's his car, and he is the one driving it. There's no question that the whole incident was tragic, but this could have been avoided with 2 solutions:

passengers telling driver to slow down

driver ignoring request to go faster
