Post this in the exterior or body forums, not in a thread about '05 STi pics.

It would only happen if the DOT change their safety standard, but you know that would never happen.

FYI the fender flare is very functional. The fender is trimmed almost to the original fender surface(at least 1/2" more clearance). I am pretty sure it does not provide structural strength either, so maybe we will be seeing some flare/bumper swaps: like with the wing, and still have the trimmed fender and extra width... or just buy a MY04(stock/aftermarket) bumper and take the flare off
--Provided that it is only stuck-on(3m double sided tape)
--If you look at the first pic of the flare I provided you can see where the fender is trimmed (look close it is hard to see; starts a couple inches above the tire [in the photo])

Hi Folks!
My first post here actually. The photo of the white STi is taken in Germany. The licence plate says MZ i.e. Mainz outside of Frankfurt. Subaru has a research and development centre in Ingelheim am Rhein quite in the vicinity.
Subaru therefore have access to Autobahns and Nürburg Ring (Nordschleif) but also access to the German market, from where most of the competitors originate.
And yes the carried over centre console from Forester is surprisingly predictable...even with Subaru standards.
Cheers

They did not think I was doing anything more than looking, so they just said that I could not be there, and asked me to leave. They were very polite about it.

The sole reason for the fender flare is to accomodate 235 tires in Japan to fight with EVO MR.
If EVO has 235, STi gets 235. If STi gets 6 spd, EVO MR gets 6spd too. thats how EVo and STi evolved.
In Japan, tires has to be in the fender when you see the fender directly from above.
I hope we get 235 too but the one in the pic is 225..
