I am getting a couple small goodies tomorrow for my rex, one being painted replica fog light covers...
It DOES come with the STI stencile. Only problem is I have never painted before. Do I use white paint in a paint can and dab it on? Or do I go to Autozone/Advanced and pick out a white automotive spray can? I was at autozone and saw about 8 different WHITE cans of spray paint... which one should I use and what is recommended. Also after it's on how do I prevent it from chipping, coming off... I'm in PA so the salt is a big factor... salt is nasty!!!!!! yuck!.
Thanks,
-Nigel

Yeppers, sorry about not being clear. I am getting the STI foglight covers already painted in yellow, but I need to paint the "STI" logo on the black mesh... What I would like to know is how do I go about doing this... What type of white paint do I use, then what do I use to seal it so that in the winter time or when I wash the car the "STI" logo does not come off?
Thanks :-)

I'd just use some good quality automotive paint in whatever shade of white you want. Generally speaking the more it costs the better it is, at least with paint, generally I say now... Then just get some automotive clear coat to put over it. When it comes to painting I find that several light coats are always best. Don't try to make it look the way you want in one pass. Build up coats and layer on several coats of clear if you want it protected. That help at all?

Shiseiji,
Cool thank you!
I have one question though, to seal it for the clear coat is it actually called "clear coat"? And how many times do I use the clear coat? Do I spray a layer of paint, let it dry then use the clear coat, or many layers of paint, then many layers of clear coat? Once everything is dried is there any special maintaince that I have to do so that paint is held on? Or can I use more clear coat here and there maybe add another coat of clear coat every month?
Thanks,
-Nigel

You want to use many coats of paint and then many coats of clear. It should be called "Automotive clear coat" Can pick it up at most auto parts stores. I would think you could just clean the surface a bit, to remove tar/bugs/dirt, and then reapply some clear as preventative maintenance and to maintain the finish.
