So the guy I bought my 2002 wrx from installed an exhaust with up pipe, down pipe, and cat back. Sounds bad ***. But my mechanic (whom does not specialize in subarus or a lot of other foreign cars) called it an emissions nightmare. So the guy took it to emissions and proved to me it would pass and it did. ANYWAY, should I be concerned about any long term damage to me engine with this exhaust?

 

in a word, no... exhausts/piping/flow are pretty simple, if your guy says that its probably because hes referring to emissions and not passing smog and maybe just being a tool mechanic if it passed it passed, you have no worries, ive been running fully catless for 2 years now and have never been bothered by anyone cops included, except an unfamiliar mechanic telling me i need carb stickers... hope that helps!
