Swaped a 2.2 on a 95 impreza and put another 2.2 engine in. Problem is left side head has no hole for EGR tube. Can you run without the EGR and not do damage the engine. I know the check engine light will be on but will the engine run right without any problems. Need an expert answer. thanks

 

You may have detonation problems without the EGR. Although it sucks for other reasons, EGR does allow for more timing advance before knock occurs. With the same ECU and advance tables which assume EGR is present, you might get some knock. It may then be necessary to run premium grade fuel to avoid or minimize it.
Besides that, if you have emissions inspection in your area you'll fail for the check engine light and you won't be able to fix it.
