Question crazy rally pic?

Im wondering if anybody else has seen that picture of a rally car (I think a Lancia, not sure tho) where the throttle cable had broken and the driver hopped into the engine bay and operated by hand to finish the rally? Ive been looking around the net but I havent been able to find it yet.

Yeah, its a Lancia delta. I have the picture in some magazine, but I can't seem to find it on the web.

Maybe when I get some more time, I'll find some way to post it.

Alright. I scanned it out of the RallyXS August/September 2004 issue.

Its Juha Kankkunen from Finland in 1990, driving a Lancia Delta. He crawled out of the car when the throttle cable snapped. He somehow stood in the engine bay and manually pulled the throttle cable as his co-driver (Juha Piironen) steered the vehicle. Finishing the stage like this allowed them to eventually climb back up to 5th place overall by the end of the rally.

HAAAA! God i love rally racing.
Did any of you guys see the race where martin's hood popped up and he drove the rest of the race looking through the tiny crack in the bottom? The dude still hauled ***.

Could rallying be perhaps the finest form of motorsports on the planet?

My favorite part:

Q - As a co-driver have you ever had to do anything as bizarre before?
Thankfully nothing quite like that before no. But last year when we lost a front wheel in Kenya I sat on the boot lid for about 3kms acting as a counterbalance to keep the front corner off the ground. We had to give up on that occasion, but it was definitely a ride to remember!

a few years back the throttle cable snapped on sainz(i think) so he got luis moya's shoelace, tied it up and drove the rest of the stage controlling the gas with his hand! you dont see that kinda stuff anywhere else!
