Closed vs. open deck

So a closed deck will offer a stout, powerful delivery, more so than an open deck as long as the proper precautions are made to ensure it is efficiently cooled?
But a closed deck probably wouldn't be wise as a daily driver?
more like a race engine that will be rebuilt regularly

.edit: I couldn't find a pic of the stock head gasket, but here's a copper one

Notice how it matches a closed deck design. It matches the coolant channels going into the head.
Open deck blocks are just cheaper to manufacture than closed deck. Any cooling problems that are attributed to a closed deck are more than likely a poor design to start with.
