Can Carbon Fiber Be Painted??

I have a 2002 2.5 rs and I want a hood with a scoop. I looked into stock wrx hoods and people want $300 for them then to paint it, it will cost around $300. Then I looked into carbon fiber and a decent one that looks like a stock wrx costs around $350 so that is my best deal to buy that causes its lighter than stock but I don't really like the look of a black hood on my car and I was wondering if I could paint it to match. I haven't heard of anyone doing this and I didn't know if it was possible

just so you know, I believe most carbon fiber hoods are heavier than the stock WRX hood.

Oh, really? I didn't know that, I always heard that they are supposed to be a lot lighter, that is the reason for them.

Generally they are lighter. Howerver, the WRX has an all alluminium hood and comes out weighing less.

I'm pretty sure my carbon fiber bike was powder coated.

okay, well i guess i will go with the carbon fiber and when i get enough money i will paint it to match because it will still be cheaper than a wrx hood

make sure you get a cf hood with rolled edges, or you may have laminate peeling problems in the future.

i think it would be better to save up for a mod that will give you some power(exhaust, intake, pullies, etc)

I am also trying not to do any extreme mods until the warranty is up i have 10,000 miles on the car and i don't want to void anything until i have reached about 36000 miles thats why im not doing anything like exhaust or suspension yet.
