Buying a car by fax
I remember reading on one of the forums someone describing in detail how to negotiate a car purchase by fax, but for the life of me, I can't find the darn post.
Anybody seen the post? The guy actually pasted in a bunch of the text he used, and said, "feel free to plagairize..."
Any leads would be appreciated!

why would you want to do it by fax???
dealers have web-sites, so go to subaru.com, search for dealers within 3 hrs of you, and send them all a request for a quote. i found it easiest to write it up once (for the first request) and then cut and paste it into the others. about half the dealers came back with reasonable offers...a couple at invoice. easy as that. most will try and match the others ("we won't be undersold"), so it shouldn't be hard to find one in your area.

I would do it by fax because it works...
You send it to the fleet manager. More often than not, the fleet manager is not e-mail savvy.
E-mails don't go to the fleet manager, so the price goes up at least 1% right off the bat.
Furthermore, an offer on paper has presence that an e-mail can ever have.
Also, I don't want to pay invoice. Why would I ever want to pay that much for a car?

Just want to do what works, and I thinking faxing is MUCH more effective.

well, it sounds like you have your own plan and don't need the advice of this forum. for what its worth, i think i remember reading about that fax thing somewhere on the Edmunds site.
i really can't imagine why anyone would be happy getting a car at invoice, especially a new model year car (when the old model year is still on the lot). absurd.

I am asking you not to divert attention away from my original question.
Does someone know where the original post is which describes the points and text to include in a fax (or e-mail for that matter) when buying a car by "fax attack?"
