Thumbs up Another new scoobie owner!

I just bought a brand new 2005 WRX in platinum silver and I am extremely stoked to finally own a turbo import car! This forum is great, I found it a few weeks before I made the purchase and all of the info really helped me out in picking my car. I plan on upgrading alot of parts on this car (intake, exhaust, wheels and tires, etc....) but I am worried about voiding several areas of my warranty. They told me at the dealership if I installed aftermarket parts to have it done there and it will not void my warranty, but I know that is going to seriously hurt my wallet. I also read that installing intakes on these cars doesn't have much affect on performance, it just sounds better (turbo and bov=louder), is this true? If any one has any info for me, especially about what exhausts sound the best and what size wheels will fit my ride (17 x 8 maybe?), I would be stoked to hear what you have to say!

And I 2nd to that!

I'm not sure about dealership installing aftermarket parts and will not affect warranty. And will definitely put a hole in your wallet if you ever did. As an opinion and experience of my own, I really can't trust dealerships 100%.

Best way to go about it, is take care of your car real well. And it'll return you the favor, even with those aftermarket parts.

Welcome aboard and take care!

Question feelin welcome already

thanks for the reply, I feel welcome already. LOL I have only had the car a few days and the down payment killed my savings so it will be a while before I start modifying my WRX. Are there any intakes out there that will make at least some power, or help the turbo spool faster so I have SOME reason to buy one?

Be sure to check out the Reviews section here at i-club. A lot of folks have written some good stuff on a lot of products. My choice for the 1st big mod: lighter wheels and wider tires. 17" wheels and 225 45 17 rubber are proven winners on the WRX Sedan. Don't go cheap, the WRX is a fine car. Congrats & welcome!

p.s. read the manual that came with the car. do scheduled maintenance. be sure to follow the break-in instructions to the letter! You'll find it in the drivers' manual, too.
