Advice on rims for my silver 2002 WRX

I am having a little bit of a problem deciding on rims for my car. I have a 2002 silver wrx; witch rims do you think look the best gun metal, silver, chrome, gold or other?
One more question: Should I go with 18 inch rims or 17 inch? I have herd that 18's will affect handeling (negativley) and they make for a ruff ride, however I LOVE the look of wheels that big. Witch do you think I should go for? (keep in mind that I live in new brunswick and the roads are not great).
THANKS

I went with painted Silver once I watched Gunmetal long enough. I decided it looked like I never cleaned my brake dust off. I thought they were were real nice at first though, saw em around. Just seemed dirty after awhile. As far as chrome, can we say 'Bling Bling'??

i went 18
I just got my 5-zigen bronze from my local shop 18x8 with a set of 225 45's.
Looks awsome but there are a few issues. I have the wagon and my rear track is a little thiner than the sedan, the knew set up rubbs somewhat with four people. I also went with a set of B+G springs so if you stay stock w/ride hight you should have no probs. I tested the 17's before I got my 18's and I get no noticable ride quality difference. I personally like darker rims on the lighter cars. Just don't do chrome! No Bling...

DaSubyDude from www.subydude.com told me that everyone he has spoken with has been unhappy with 18" rims. I would definitely go with 17's. Screw the show-car thing.
I would recommend 8 inch width, like 225's and Z rated rubber.
I have a 2004 Silver WRX and I definitely want something with a machined lip when I get rims in the spring. I also don't know if I want bronze, black, silver, gold, etc.
Also, my friend got his VR6 Jetta back today. He's got 18x8 rims and a nice set of coilovers. The ride was horrible. I felt every bump and he had the dampening set at a reasonable level. Here's my point, wide 17" rims with sticky rubber should be a great setup on a WRX.
