The lower octane has just caused your car to retard the timing. Once you get through this tank, fill up with 91 octane or higher (in CA, 91 is about the best you can get). I always fill my WRX at Chevron.
Then take your car home, shut it off, pop the hood and disconnect your negative battery cable.
Chill for about 10 minutes.
Come back out, reconnect the cable. Start her up and take her for a spin. Power should start getting set again.
Sorry that you lost your clock and radio settings
And where do you live (city)?

He doesn't have to wait til he's empty, just use higher octane fuel and it'll balance out to 91 or higher, you also don't have to disconnect your battery, the WRX ECU is a learning ECU and it'll adjust to the higher octane without losing what it's learned on your driving style, radio settings, all that.
well that dealer is a retart. Let me break it down. I got a buddy with an automatic WRX with Catbak exhaust, intake, boost controller, and a BOV (i told him it was a waste of cach but he didn't listen) and I raced him in my WRX with the 5-speed BONE stock and I whooped his tail. The 5-speed can launch harder than the auto anyday unless your talking over 400hp so once again the dealer is a MORON.

--- Question # 3 Answer:
An automatic will be faster on a quarter mile than a stick given the same conditions and same tuning setup. The standard will take any auto at higher speed and there will be top end gain.
Good luck out shifting an auto if you don't believe me guys (can't wait for the stories to pour in). If you don't believe me watch a couple of 442's, one standard and one auto during a classics quarter challenge on SpeedVision or ESPN racing... the 3 speed auto will eat the standard alive.

race a stock WRX with a standard and an auto on the same track at the same time with 2 GOOD drivers. The stick can launch faster PERIOD. unless you do some transmission work to the auto it WILL NOT beat at stick with a GOOD driver.
