im new to this whole thing, but i am pretty sure is300s cannot break 16 seconds stock, and they might even be 17 second cars but im not sure if they are that slow...

in my opnion, the is300 is a gutless wonder and you should walk all over him

Yeah, the IS wont take you. I had one on order and was just waiting for deliver so I would go down and drive the dealers every once in awhile to keep the interest up and I met up with a stock WRX and it took me pretty hard. I drove the IS to the Subaru dealer and test drove a WRX and cancelled the IS order. $10k more for the IS and heavier and not as much fun. Pretty simple decision really. =)

Ask IS2Scooby, he's had both and doesn't miss his IS300 at all.

Yep. The only thing I miss from the IS is the "L" emblem.

All kidding aside, the IS was a neat for what it was. A sporty car that handled relatively well and tried to coddle you in a little luxury.

It was a greta car for "pimp factor" with the local Bettys - but once that's taken out of the equation my WRX is so much more satisfying!

YMMV of course.

As far as the race? My WRX was over 1 second quicker in the 1/4 mile than my IS300 when stock and after my latest round of modifications would have trounced it by 2.5 seconds!

I loved the IS for just the confort and styling. I think its a great looking car, but for $10k less I can get a car that Im sure I will like just as much and have a ton more fun in. The IS needs about 50-75 more HP to compete with Infinity and BMW, its way too underpowered for the price. Too bad tho. I would have bought it with 275 or so hp. Bascially I could have turbo'd it and spent about $40+k to make it what the wrx is stock. Um... you decide. =)

Race!

Nothings sillier than magazine racing. Go find an IS-300, race him, and find out, "Like a man with BIIG COJONES!" (If you havent played Vice City yet you might not get that ;-p)

Yeah I just use a big Hummer or Tank. =)

Love that game, of course I like the city layout in the original better. I finished the Vice City way too quickle and it seems small. Still awesome game.

I almost stuck with my IS order and debated putting a turbo on, but something about voiding the warranty on a $35k car just didnt sound like a good idea. Especially not to just get it in the horsepower to weight range the WRX is already at. Lexus just screwed up is all, they think their style and name makes it worth paying so much for a weak car. They rock, no doubt, if you never want to get on the gas that is.

2 IS advantages:
1. it's the quietest and smoothest small sports sedan around (last time I was in my friends, I was talking to him and didn't even notice when the engine started).

2. No need to find Altezzzas on ebay

I agree completely. I fell in love with the car driving it off the lot the first time, but it was later when I actually woke up and realized I like speed and acceleration that I knew it wasnt for me. Oh well. When I get tired of racing around and am old and crusty I will definitely look for another one.
