I am looking into buying a 2.5RS as well as modding it. One of my friends said to place an svx engine inside. Would this be a good thing to do?

it would probably be very difficult to do. its a pretty big engine, and a smaller car. would take some serious modification. i would look towards adding a turbo to your 2.5, or swapping for a EJ20.

the same friend had also said that adding a turbo into the RS is not very good for the engine.. and said that a boost of 6-7 psi (an average boost for most cars he says) could blow up the engine

Yes, EJ20 is the WRX engine. Adding a turbo to the RS is not bad for the engine if done correctly (you'll get no warranty support, but that's probably not an issue for you). A lot of turbo kits exist and suggest running at 6 PSI. Many people have done this without any issue, and some run up to 10 PSI without repercussion. It's not forged like the EJ20 and has a higher compression ratio, so there's risk of blowing it up if not done correctly and kept well-monitored. I saw a turbo-ed 2.2L Impreza L wagon recently (also not forged) with upgraded transmission and suspension, it was a sick ride. Either would take a stock WRX to school if done well.

If you really want to go turbo and you have some cash (wich if you were thinking of putting a SVX engine in you should) I'd check with cobb tuning they do some sick things to the 2.5 engine build them for 600hp.

An svx engine would be sweet but only to say you did it but you won't be able to take it much past stock because their just isn't an aftermarket out there.
