2.5RS Coupe with 04 STi engine and Tranny??
2.5RS Coupe with 04 STi engine and Tranny??
Ok. I've been searching for a while to no avail. Here's my dream:
99-01 Impreza 2.5RS with a 04 STI 2.5L Turbo engine and 6speed MT. The idea is a 2 door coupe with about 2800lbs of weight (Removing stuff like AC and rear seats to balance the heavier engine and tranny) with 300 to 320HP from a nearly stock 04 STI 2.5L Turbo engine with the 6Speed MT to handle the power. Think of it. Stock engine power and reliability (Assuming it is reliable in the first place) along with a strong 6 speed with DCCD. On top of that a low ~2800lbs curb weight. Good gas mileage. And in the body of a low insurance 2 door coupe.
So here's what I'd like to know. Assuming the 2.5L Turbo is the EJ25T and the mounting points for this engine and the tranny are the same as the ones on the 04 STI. Will I need to modify the axles and other drivetrain parts because of the differences in width and wheelbase? Or is it possible to use the 2.5RS's drivetrain parts after the tranny swap?
Any info you guys have would be great.
Thanks Scooby pals.

Your best bet is just replace everything. I'm not sure if the gearing on the 6speed works with the RS diffs, besides if you switch it all, you can have DCCD!!! Biggest downside will be cost. I can guarantee the motor + tranny will be very expensive for a while. Even wrecked STis will be expensive.
