'09 WRX decent?
'09 WRX decent?
So my '04 Cavalier is on its way out already, I do 25-30k miles a year on my cars and the Cav just hit 166k miles. I want to offload it before the tranny drops on me.
Even though it's pretty different, I'm looking at an Impreza 5dr or the VW GTI.
Big difference between the 2 being power, obviously.
Last night I was browsing at the local Subaru dealer, found a decent looking '09 Impreza GT. Reviews from Car and Driver, etc...said don't get this particular model. They did complain about the interior being "cheap" but that doesn't really bother me. I look for something fun to drive, has decent power for a daily driver and would be solid in the snow.
Thoughts?

Go drive them both.
GTI is FWD so it will get better gas mileage, where the Impreza is awd and will feel more secure when the roads are wet and slick.
If you want the hatch like the Impreza and the fwd in the GTI maybe look at the Mazdaspeed 3. Also that Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback is similar.

The 2.5 gt is a non turbo charged model, which unless all you want is good gas mileage than that's the way to go. And even then the GTi will probably do better. Since youre doing a lot of driving I would get a car that doesnt require premium fuel. Which a WRX will, and the GTi will if it's a turbo model.

If you're planning on getting a subaru, get it in manual. I dont like the way subaru feel in automatic but thats just my experience and pain ive had to live with for the past 4.5 years lol

The GT was a TD04 instead of a VF52. It's worthless and for that price range get the GTI my friend has one and with a downpipe and a tune its just as fast as my tuned legacy. Get a WRX or bust. AWD is the only benefit of having the subaru. If you want a regular impreza definitely MT>AT all day.
