So... what you are saying is, you'll never, ever buy a computer either? Since technology moves so fast, a better computer is out about 1 month later... what's the point of buying it? If you need, and want the car, buy it. Just because a new one is out, doesn't mean you have to have it, and it certainly doesn't mean it's better. I like my MY00 RS better than the current WRX... I'd rather have the STi, but not the WRX.

The forecast for 2006 says the Impreza will have a redesign. If there are any other sources saying this generation Impreza model will be prolonged until 2008, then I will buy the 04 Sti. Just being this far into this generation of the Impreza, I feel I should wait to see what happens in 05. Besides Subaru has a new auto designer on board with a great reputation. I'm just the kind of guy that has to have the latest new best thing out on the market. I would see it as a turning point in Subaru's impressive new line of autos, and in the rapidly changing auto industry.

i'm also waiting 2 years or so for an STi, but it's just because of financial issues.
Some times these auto makers are unpredictable. i bought a 95 DC4 integra and it was on it's second year. I was thinking it will get a redesign in 1998 like any of the other Honda/Acura after 4 years (besides the NSX). but it never did until the RSX came out in 2002. Speaking of the NSX, its been over 10 years, no major redesign lol

i think it's fugly. the front is hideous. there was a big thread about it, and people basically all agreed that it looked a lot like an alfa romeo in the front.
That settles it then, I'm getting the 04' Sti. Besides, the WRX just had a redesign for this year so now is a good time to buy.

It's all in what ya like. I just feel you have to change your taste in auto designs. Don't get me wrong I love the new fascia, but there's a lot of people who think it looks like a Ford.
I don't think so. Biased, biased. And I doubt the 06 Sti will look identical to the B11S, but IMO, I think it looks sleek. You know Subies can't keep the same look forever. I'm sure none of us really care for any of the early 80's model Subaru bodystyles. Ever since the bugeyed WRX hit the U.S., I've been a big Subie lover, I'm just sad to see it go. And I'm sure others are too. Now that technology is rapidly advancing in the auto industry, I'm liking the futuristic looking redesigns a whole lot more. Boxy looks are fading quick.

do you think the current WRX looks "boxy"? If you do, I can see where you are coming from, a bit. Can you post a link or picture to what the new "sleek" design will look like. I tend to like what most people don't.
Do you think current wrx looks boxy?

just to share some stuff i heard...
I heard '06 redesign will be sold as MY07 in Japan, Europe, etc. and will be brought into US in '07 (as MY08??)
that 'Alfa' front end is due to the new head designer who came from Alfa shop.
I agree with most of you saying 'get what you can afford'. i did go thru a phase when i got a new car every 2 yrs, but i'm hoping to keep my '02 WRX for at least 150k mi. (so far i have 56k)
It'll be awesome if the bugeyes become collectibles!
