tell me about the DCCD
HELLO,
Im from santa barbara CA. and have had my sti for 1 1/2 months, i do all my own upgrades and know allot about these cars but i cant understand the dccd discription in the manual.
1. how can i get this car to do the smallest donuts?
2. is it safe to use lock on the street?
3. is it always on 65 rear and 35 front. and does the DCCD just change the locker or does it change the actual tork ratio?
THANKS,
Sean Eberz

1. put it in full lock or Auto(it's a little more tricky), drive forward in 1st gear at about 10 miles an hours, crank the wheel hard left or right and yank the e-break and then as your back end comes around, stab the gas... you'll spin like a top. On the oppisite end of the spectrum, roll it back to fully open and you can get some nice rear end slides.
2. depends on your meaning of safe
3. You are correct, the torque is always split 35/65, the DCCD just changes the locking rate on the diff.

I've noticed for daily driving I just leave it on auto. For autocross I keep it open or dialed all the way to the bottom because it lets me swing the *** end around a little bit. If you fully lock it out like in the lock possition, then that's where you get the bad *** AWD burn outs. Leave it in auto for bracket or drag racing.
