Most items that meet the following three requirements should be eliminated.
1. Easy aftermarket installation
2. No reduction in resale value upon aftermarket installation
3. Does nothing to improve the cars performance/handling

Also, take a look at the Japanese Sti interior. It seems like the stereo is not the conventional 7"x2" face.

yes it sounds crazy at first--but Subaru officials (and their press release) justifies it as such...you can add a stereo quite easily but its very $$$ to add A/C, Pwr Windows, etc...and yes its prewired with the antenna in the window (which incidentally is made from lightweight glass)...yeah wacko stuff...buy u bet i am getting one!

If it is the stereo then it was probably more for cost cutting than weight savings. The Japanese Stis usually come with crazy stuff like the top of the line Kenwood systems. Of course, this doesn't mean that we won't get the same type of top notch system either. But, I'd suspect a SOLID system can easily add $1000 to the price of the car.
