Thoughts?
I have been reading in the past that the Sti is usually more of a "daily driver" than the EVO. The EVO is more of a "racer's" car with the harsher ride and the toggle switch type clutch. That might have changed on the EVO8. As a reference, take a look at either last month's or the month before's Road and Track where they test three "levels" of WRXs. The first being a regular WRX. The second is a WRX outfitted with STi suspension components and the last is a Tommy Kaira Sti (total bada$$). The Tommy Kaira is as close to a street legal touring car as you can get. It is as filling jarring, contact loosening a ride as you will get, but the car has ABSOLUTELY NO BODY ROLL. The Sti "frankenstein" is probably what you can expect. A little roll but, not much. It is as close to "happy medium" as you can get between the extremes.

As for the light weight rear glass, I'm guessing that the light glass is less dense than your normal auto rear glass, but it really depends more on how the car is insulated in terms of hearing outside noises. It's not like the glass is a window pane or anything so I'm not expecting sound to pass through the glass per se.. If the Sti skimps on the insulation to lose weight, then expect road noise.

But don't worry, the sounds of the road will be well forgotten in after hearing the harmonious sounds of the grumbling boxer with the whines of the turbo as it revs up to 6K RPM.

Its also missing the canards on the front bumper......some guys on the vortex pointed that out, i thought that if the canards are removed, so does the extensions under the fog light covers?

STI suspension

If you do your homework, back in late November when there was all the talk about the new-look front end,.Fuji Heavy Industries posted a press release stating all the changes associated with the "new-look" from end cars.

One of the changes was redesigned and recalibrated from suspension geometry and VALVING. This is for the regular WRX and STI. It is suppose to better valved to respond to a wide range of driving conditions.

IMO this is why the regular WRX at the AUTO show felt much stiffer than my 2003 WRX and the STI felt like KYB's on # 3.
IN the press package that comes from Subaru for the AUTO show tour it states ( and dude showed me but would not give me a copy of it) that the "inverted strut" used on the STI is a Bilstein product. The reason they cant use the Bilstein name is due to prior agreement with Bilstein and ,..guess who........?????????

Prodrive-USA is about 1 month away from having an official website in the USA, and for those of use who know about Prodrive, they know that Bilstein and Prodrive have a license contract( this is why you wont see Bilstein list any shocks for Subaru) ,

So having had said all that, I feel (IMO) that the STI suspension that we get on the STI300,..(us-STI) will be the BOMB !!!
I have always lowered and restruted EVERY car in the last 18 years, from my first car, 77' 280z to my IS300, 13 out of 21 have had Bilsteins, and I dont think I am going to touch this suspension ,.maybe springs, only if PRODRIVE developes springs for the US STI, yes, becuase I know they will be conservative with the ride height.

The stock car (US300 ) is already lowed roughly half an inch, once you throw a set of 18 inch P1's or Volk te30(the mesh) and 2 people sit in it,you're set. Uppipe, and drop in filter, done!!

My source on Bilstien is a ex Bilstein rep who now works for Ohlin, we met at Daytona this year and he gave me alot of info on shocks.
