But like I said, its not big enough of a weight difference on Imprezas to matter. 15lbs is nothing. And yes, the sedan is stiffer due to the location of the pilar beam thingies inbetween the two doors is more in the middle of the car and reduces flex.

Hmm..

Seems odd that's it's really just 15lbs. Where is that data from? I put my 2003 sedan on a scale here in SJ and it read 3060. Anyone with a coupe wanna try??

Usually the 'box' formed by the area behind the doors makes coupes much stiffer - the sedan (with it's rear doors) looses this.

Do we have any data on this? I am curious now.. Not that it really matters, just curious.

Sure, go to www.edmunds.com or www.kbb.com and look up the weights of the RS sedan and RS coupe in 2000 and 2001. It was also in the brocure.

As for the stifness, think about an arch... If you put a poll connecting it from the middle of the arch to the bottom, its hard to flex. But if you move that pole closer to one side or the other, the side that is farthest from the pole becomes easier to flex. Now think of the car as a big twisty arch, and move that strong spot back farther and think of how it flexes...
