sti with paddle shifters in 2005?
Ok I'm thinkin how could Sub change the 04 car in 05 to not only 1 up the comp but also the 04 sti! Since the 04 Hp is already kinda nuts, "NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT" it seems like the natural progression is paddle shifters on the wheel! Can I just line up a buyer right now for an immaculate black 04, with let's say about 8000 gental miles on her! Alpine, Up pipe, Down pipe, Coil overs, all the good garbage! $28000.00 Must Sell--------Fasster

Good one! Just trying to make a point. If we do spend $35500.00 out the door in June, and then they intro a new car with features that we would certainly wish we had! I know we can sit here all day and say what if! But it just looks like from trends going on out there, that this seems very possible if not probable in the very near future. Just look at this years concepts and what's already in use @ SWRT.----Buy now or wait a year?----Fasster

Paddle-shifters don't necessarily make it better than a conventional manual, just different..........some people think the M3 SMG is the top dog, others prefer the conventional stick-shift. One thing's for sure............there will be a significant price differential between the two. If the '04 STi stickers for around $32k, a paddle shifter will almost certainly be a grand or two more than that......plus prices may have drifted up by then anyway.
Personally I'm getting my '04 Sti at $400 over invoice (probably equates to around $1500 below MSRP), so waiting won't benefit me much in terms of price........I really can't see that price being significantly bettered anywhere/anytime in the near future.
You can always wait for something better and you can almost guarantee that there will be something better somewhere down the line........but you can't wait forever, you have to commit sooner or later.

BTW, are you getting $400 over invoice through someone you know at SOA?

No.............$400 over invoice (in writing) from Van Bortel Subaru in Victor, upstate NY.............they sell all their cars that way and are the second or third (used to be first) highest volume Subaru dealership in North America...........no nonsense, totally professional.
BTW.........the waiting list is VERY long.........I got on their waiting list in mid January and was told I might not get an STi until early '04; which suits me just fine. I'm hoping people will actually drop off the list when official prices are announced and I'll get one sometime in the Fall.
