2500 is not bad. Things could be worse.

My relatively low rate quote maybe explained by I'm 33, married, live in Northern VA, no accidents/no tix, multi car discount (3) as well as my home insurance policies though my auto insurance is covered under a separate 'Corporate' policy.

Let me try and return a favor.
At the very least loan you some lube.
I'll put you in touch with my agent who is a good man and handles all my insurance affairs both personal/family & corporate. If he can't get you a beter rate then it just ain't do able. His office is in Burke about 30 minutes drive from you.
You know how to reach me.

State Farm is the highest amount you can pay for insurance, get a better rate/company, look around.
Nuke,
From what I understand, with family policies they charge each car as if the most expensive driver was the main driver. This way, when a family's kid gets to be 16 dad gets to pay insurance for his expensive 5-series as if JR was driving it. This is why it's so high for you even tho your dad is 'main driver'

I just sent you a referral e-mail including my agents name & full contact info. Also, I called him this morning and reviewed your situation with him directly. He and his staff will be expecting your call and will "roll out the red carpet treatment" for you.
You'll be in good hands...
For others my agent mentioned that rates can vary wildly based on many non-vehicle type related datums such as; credit rating ('FICO'), claims history, job status/type, housing location/type, length of time insured, and more.
He says that having an extremely good credit rating (750+) often results in an extremely low (aka 'Preferred') insurance policy rate. Thus as I've posted before in other threads here and at NASIOC, you gotta know your FICO & BEACON scores and at all costs keep your credit history in sterling condition. Low scores will not only get you a low financing rate but also keep your insurance rate to a minimum and in the employment world even bump you ahead a competitor.
To ignore this fact is folly.
