Something to really think about....
I just got my purchase order for my EVO at MSRP....$28987 + Carbon Fiber wing + sunroof = 30,812. 30,812 + $55 documentation fee + 38.50 registration + $1,848 in PA sales tax (6%) = $32,754.22...now if the STI is say $32k, with Tax and title thats about $34,000 out the door...once again assuming 32k MSRP...I am putting down $10,000 and financing $22,754 for 60 months..which is a monthly payment of $424/month... Just wanted you guys to know it aint cheap....
PS this is at MSRP...Evos are being marked up $5000+ I can only imagine what STIs will be...

I really believe we need to stop thinking for other people. Everyone can make their own judgement of who can afford this car and who can't. Whether you make 200k a year or 5k a year, if your situation, life, environment, outside factors enables you to buy the STi, than go for it, no matter what anyone else says, because none of us know how each other lives.
Thanks for the run down of the costs for the Evo. If you paid over 31k for just an EVO, I am so glad I am buying the STi. The 3 diamonds name plate doesn't have the best of reliability records.

Realllllllly, id didn't know that 30+K insn't cheap. Come-on, very few people can say 30+K is cheap.
If the STi comes in at 32K, the EVO you bought was at 30,812, you were only 1200 + tax away from the STi. That's about another 20+ dollar to your payment. I can see your point of view though. June, July or August or whenever the STi will come is so very far away and the EVO VIII is a nice ride that's here right now. Congrats on your new ride.
I doubt that the supposed 20+hp more for the STi -vs- the supposed better handling of the EVO will be very apparent to most of us mear mortal. Maybe in the end you spent the smarter money. But aybe in the end you should of gone the extra 1200 or so dollars. For me, 2k-4k is a wash when it come to me wanting what I want. STi all the way.

Thanks for the info............personally, I do think this is useful to know. It is very easy to forget all the extra $$ add-ons to MSRP (tax, delivery charge !!) which bump up the price......also if you don't have a written guarantee of price, chances are you could possibly end up being gouged by unscrupulous dealers.
Van Bortel Subaru recently asked me if I was still interested in the STi at $33,000 MSRP......knowing Van Bortel I would suspect that this is going to be fairly accurate (though official SOA price and specs have yet to be announced). So, adding in delivery charge, all taxes etc. and purchasing at MSRP with no options and no dealer mark-ups I really think most people will be looking at around $35,000 out-the-door for an STi (if they're lucky). This would seem realistic versus the Evo VIII given the spec differences.

and the 6 speed gearbox
and the extra power
No doubt in my mind which car I'd want for the money. I don't need no sunroof, and with the right driver, the power, gearings, and all the LSDs will make up for the slight deficency in handling. STi all the way!

Everybody else can continue to debate the EVO vs STI, but I don't think that was your point.
